SALISBURY ? Registration is open for the ninth annual Tim Kennard 10-Mile River Run and 5K Walk, scheduled 8 am on March 4.
Presented by Comcast, the run starts and finishes at Salisbury University?s Maggs Physical Activities Center. Free parking is available in the SU garage on Wayne Street.
Race-related events begin March 3, with a Family Sports and Fitness Exposition from noon-5 pm in the upstairs gym of Maggs Physical Activities Center. Pre-registered entrants may pick up their race packets during the expo.
A pasta buffet follows the expo from 5:30-7:30 pm in the Worcester Room of the Commons. Admission is $15 per person. A cash bar will be available.

Held just before the Lunar New Year holidays, the 2012 Korea Travel Expo will be offering special gift and travel ideas for visitors, the Korea Tourism Association said.
Some 400 local government organizations, travel agencies and related groups are participating in the largest travel expo in Korea, held under the theme Artistic Landscape of My Country this year. The Jan. 12-15 event will be held at COEX in Samseong-dong, southeastern Seoul with the opening day broadcast live on TV.

With the new year upon us, I turned to two close observers on opposite sides of the business travel industry to predict what road warriors will see in 2012.

Is physical frailty inevitable as we grow older? That question preoccupies scientists and the middle-aged. Until recently, the evidence was disheartening. Many studies in the past few years showed that after age 40, people typically lose eight per cent or more of their muscle mass each decade, a process that accelerates significantly after age 70. Less muscle mass generally means less strength, mobility and among the elderly, independence. Moreover, less muscle is also linked with premature mortality.

FARMINGTON Marketing students at Farmington High School will be hosting a Marine-a-thon on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 11 am to support the Semper Fi fund.
These students are working together with the community to help our soldiers who have been injured in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This fund helps support injured soldiers financially.
The Marine-a-thon will include physical activities such as pull-ups to a mile and a half run. This is an open event for the public and we ask that you either participate in this event or make a donation.
Some of these students are enlisted and leaving for Parris Island right after graduation. They are very dedicated to this project....
